Dear Harbor Families,

We have an exciting second half of the school year planned for the Harbor C.R.E.W.!

·         Construction of the new Harbor playground continues. Contractors have been working on the new site (in the former Harbor staff parking lot on School Street). There is not currently a completion date assigned to this project, but we will update you as it progresses.

·         Preparations are underway to create a magnet theme for Harbor that combines two themes from our district. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) is slated to begin in the Fall of 2019. Harbor will then be positioned to offer students a thematic experience that will feed into any of the three pathways. Harbor fifth-graders will be guaranteed seats in the sixth grade International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for the 2019-20 school year.

·         We continue to develop opportunities for partnerships between families and school staff — we view this as an essential ingredient to not only student improvement, but also school improvement. If you ask your child questions about their reading, share experiences, your cultural traditions, traditional recipes and stories, that all counts as a literacy activity. We will continue to expand programming to increase inclusion and participation.

Harbor School received the Community Partnership Award as the Foster Grandparent Program Location of the Year
